The precipitous drop was caused by a 1.3% jump in the US currency against the Euro amid concerns about the fiscal stability in some EU member states, following the Standard & Poors downgrade of Greece. Gold has stabilized in the morning trade on Friday, and is currently up some 0.6% compared to yesterdays close. At 12:00 CET, it is trading at $1105.40 per ounce. While the Feds citing of an improvement in the housing and labor markets has had some adverse effect on gold, the Feds promise to maintain interest rates near zero for an extended period of time will continue to support higher gold prices in the near term. Silver was also sharply lower on Thursday, falling more than 3%, to settle at $17.21. In the morning trade, silver is trading nearly unchanged, at $17.24. The only sound way to invest in gold or silver , is in the bullion (the coins) itself.
Putting money in GLD-, or SLV ETF’s is once again putting money in other peoples (banks?) promises.
One would think that last years’ experiences with banks would make people think again.
Good video. Cool accent. Saving in SLV is a sound idea. Banks are very shaky here in California. People here in southern California are very unaware of SLV potential. I believe the gold to silver ratio should start to narrow late next year.
Numismatic are interesting if you want to collect rare coins but for that you might have to pay a very high premium.
I am not into that. I go for basic silver coins. Numismatic or not, a silver coin is a silver coin and silver is getting scarce.
